About our Founder, Theo Guething
After years of working directly with individuals navigating recovery, homelessness, and reentry, Theo saw the same barrier stopping people again and again: a lack of digital skills and access. Job applications, healthcare portals, parole requirements, communication with employers — everything now requires technology. And for many people rebuilding their lives, that gap is overwhelming.
Theo created DFI to close that gap with compassion, patience, and hands‑on guidance. His approach is simple: meet people where they are, teach at their pace, and build confidence step by step. Through one‑on‑one coaching, digital skills training, and real‑world support, Theo helps participants gain the tools they need to move forward with dignity and independence.
Driven by lived experience, community commitment, and a belief that everyone deserves a fair chance at stability, Theo continues to expand DFI’s programs across Colorado — partnering with recovery homes, reentry programs, behavioral health organizations, and community groups to reach the people who need it most.
A Message from Theo
"I see the Digital Freedom Initiative changing lives by giving people something they rarely receive during reentry: a fair chance to succeed in a world that expects digital skills they were never taught. When someone comes home, they’re immediately asked to navigate job applications, government systems, healthcare portals, and communication tools — all while trying to rebuild their stability. Without support, those barriers can feel impossible.
DFI makes a real difference by slowing things down, meeting people where they are, and teaching the skills that open doors. When someone learns how to write a resume, send an email, apply for a job, or manage their digital life with confidence, everything shifts. They stop feeling behind. They start feeling capable. And that confidence ripples into employment, independence, and long‑term stability.
DFI isn’t just teaching technology — it’s restoring dignity, building momentum, and giving people the tools to move forward with hope instead of fear."

About DFI
It all began with a simple idea fueled by a deep passion: that everyone deserves the chance to rebuild their life with dignity, confidence, and the digital skills the modern world demands. As a small, mission‑driven organization, we pride ourselves on personal attention, patience, and dedication to every detail. Our approach is rooted in quality, compassion, and integrity — ensuring that everything we do reflects our commitment to helping people move forward.
The Digital Freedom Initiative supports individuals in recovery and reentry who are working hard to rebuild their lives but face overwhelming digital barriers. From job applications and email communication to healthcare portals and government systems, today’s world requires digital literacy at every step. For many, that gap creates frustration, fear, and lost opportunities.
We bridge that gap through hands‑on digital skills training, one‑on‑one coaching, and access to essential technology. We meet people exactly where they are, teach at their pace, and celebrate every step of progress. Our work is personal, human, and grounded in real‑world experience — because we know that when someone gains digital confidence, everything else becomes possible.
Our mission is simple: to ensure that no one is left behind in a world that requires digital skills to survive and succeed. Through community partnerships, individualized support, and a commitment to excellence, we help people build stability, independence, and a future they can be proud of.
